The Mendocino Private Industry Council (MPIC), a full service workforce development organization, provides and coordinates many employment and training services for county businesses and unemployed individuals. The Redwood Empire Small Business Development Center has been established to help existing small businesses to succeed. A second purpose is to help prospective entrepreneurs do the careful planning required to successfully launch a new enterprise.
The Small Business Development Center has an extensive library available to people starting or operating a small business. A variety of publications in such areas as business plans; financial management; management and planning; marketing; crime prevention; and personnel management are available.

West Company, provides professional business planning and management services to small businesses in the County. West Company's focus is on micro enterprises (five or fewer employees).
